The Multicultural Education Committee has completed a series of nine educational programs addressing how various cultures deal with death, dying and grief through their customs and traditions. Programs have been offered related to the Latino/Hispanic, Native American, Asian (2 programs), African-American, Rural Ozark, Jewish, Muslim and Amish/Mennonite customs.

Each program included speaker(s), music or dance, an educational display and refreshments representative of that culture. Tapes of the first five programs have been edited into a training DVD with an accompanying study guide to assist in relating the content to specific local settings. This DVD is available through the Alliance office. The committee is currently implementing a marketing plan, targeting our four-state area, to support diversity training with staff who work with seriously ill and persons at the end of their life.
